Steve Pietropaolo, MS, P.E., CFEI, DFE, Chief Executive Officer
Steve Pietropaolo has a Bachelor Degree of Engineering in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manhattan College. He has participated in hundreds of hours of postgraduate professional development training in various engineering disciplines as well as topics including fires, explosions and product liability. Mr. Pietropaolo is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of New York amongst many others. He is a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator and a Certified Fire Investigator Instructor.
He has over 28 years of hands on engineering experience including electrical, mechanical, materials, safety, fire protection and construction. He has knowledge of codes and standards used in construction and industry including building codes, safety codes and industrial codes. He has provided safety engineering consulting services to manufacturers, construction companies and retailers. His expertise is in the field of forensic investigations of product defects, fires/explosions, accidents/injuries, building failures, and electro/mechanical system failures. He has extensive experience in Utility Company procedures/equipment and investigating major incidents involving electrical, gas, steam system failures, and construction accidents.
He has testified as an expert witness many times in cases in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Federal Courts. He has been retained on numerous large multimillion-dollar property damage cases as well as fatal accidents and fires/explosions including those that resulted in injury.
Karen Pietropaolo, MBA, President, LGI Forensic Engineering, P.C., and LGI Forensic Laboratories, Inc.
Karen Pietropaolo, MBA, has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the Hagan School of Business at Iona College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Economics from the State University of New York at Oneonta.
She has over 30 years of business experience, focusing mainly on financial services and banking. She is President of LGI Forensic Engineering, an instrumental member of the management team and tasked with executing plans for the overall growth and success of the company. She is skilled in Business Planning, Marketing Strategy, Client Awareness, Operations Management, and Advertising.
She is also President of LGI Forensic Laboratories, Inc., a full-service, state-of-the art, ANAB Accredited forensic testing facility.
At LGI, Mrs. Pietropaolo focuses on all aspects of marketing for the firm, client relations, process improvement, project management, company strategy, finance, and budgeting.
Robert Berryman, P.E., CFPS, CFEI, Engineering and Laboratory Director
Robert M. Berryman, P.E., CFEI, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Systems Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Graduate Certificate in Electrical Power Systems from the United States Merchant Marine Academy. Mr. Berryman is a Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in New York State. He is also designated a Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI) by the National Association of Fire Investigators.
As an integral part of the management team, he is responsible for the management of the engineering staff and consultants as well as the operations of the Laboratory. He oversees the technical report writing process and ensures that all of the activities in the Laboratory are American National Standards Institute National Accrediting Board (ANAB) compliant.
Mr. Berryman has over twenty years of hands-on engineering experience including electrical, mechanical, operations, nuclear, marine, safety, and fire protection. He served for five years on active duty in the U.S. Navy as a submarine officer aboard a nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine and qualified submarine officer and nuclear engineer officer.
He has extensive experience with commercial nuclear power plants including eight years as an inspector with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and over two years as a nuclear safety consultant. His areas of expertise include maintenance and operation of electrical systems, mechanical-electrical system interactions, and system operations. He also has experience as an aircraft systems instructor at an airline and as a systems engineer at a marine control systems company.
Mr. Berryman has also achieved the rank of Commander (O-5) in the U.S. Navy Reserve and retired upon the completion of twenty years of total service. He commanded three different units including one deployed to the Middle East.
Patrick J. Vincent, SCLA, Director, Business Development and Marketing
Mr. Vincent has a wealth of experience working as a marketing manager, ultimately obtaining the role of Director of Business Development at a nationwide forensic engineering firm. He is highly experienced in business development management with a diverse background in the insurance, legal and construction industries. He is extremely skilled in creating strong client relationships and leveraging those relationships to drive new business and revenue. Along with his new business and marketing skills he is part of the leadership team, driving the direction and success of the firm into the new decade.
Zoey Guzman, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of LGI Forensic Engineering, P.C., (LGI)
Ms. Guzman is a key member of the management team and is tasked with implementing policies and procedures in order to ensure ultimate efficiency. She is the leader of the administrative staff and works tirelessly to achieve efficiencies of scale. She is credited with the extremely positive and team-focused culture at the home office. Ms. Guzman’s tenure at LGI spans two decades.
