Philip J. Smalley, P.E., CFEI, Principal Engineer
Philip J. Smalley, P.E., CFEI, has an Associates of Applied Science Degree in Air Conditioning Engineering Technology from the State University of New York at Farmingdale. Mr. Smalley is a Professional Engineer (P.E.) licensed in New York State. He is a certified fire and explosion investigator (CFEI), and has a diploma in computer aided design and drafting from Gramman Data Systems Institute.
He has testified as an expert in a variety of courts.
Mr. Smalley is experienced in engineering design services for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), electrical, plumbing, sprinkler and life safety systems for architects, owners and facility managers for residential, commercial and institutional building projects. He has over 20 years experience in HVAC system design and installation. Mr. Smalley also has experience with forensic investigations of building equipment failures of electrical, plumbing, heating, and air conditioning mechanical systems.
Laurence J. Colavito, P.E., CPD, LEED AP, Senior Engineer
Laurence J. Colavito, P.E., CPD, LEED AP, has a Master of Science in Environmental Technologies, a Master of Business Administration in General Business Management, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Mr. Colavito is a Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the States of New York and Connecticut. He is a Certified Plumbing Designer (CPD) and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP).
Mr. Colavito has over 28 years experience in the design, construction, inspection, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical building systems. His commercial and institutional building experience incorporates schools, hospitals/health care, museums, hotels, food service, office buildings, luxury condominiums, multi-story high-rise buildings, and others. His mechanical and electrical engineering expertise covers all aspects of the design and installation of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems (HVAC), fire protection, plumbing systems, electrical power systems, fire alarms, site utilities, storm drainage, service water, energy management, building controls, boilers, chillers, generators and others.
Stephen J. Cole, Consultant
Mr. Cole is an accomplished Mechanical Engineer with a background in mechanical structures and support systems for high power defense, research electronics and telecommunication systems.
Mr. Cole has also developed various consumer products for the photographic industry. He was responsible for the product’s failure analysis due to misuse and abuse, environment, and manufacturing defects. He brings to the table expertise in stress analysis, finite element analysis, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics as well as an astute knowledge of metals and polymers.
